Sleigh bells ring – are you listening? We hope so. In this festive holiday season, we at Atlanta Hearing Doctor want you to stay connected to all the sights and sounds. This is the time of year to get together with friends and family members from near and far and celebrate. Here are some of Atlanta’s exciting offerings this holiday season!
A Christmas Carol
Dec. 12 – 24
Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre
This Charles Dickens Classic, directed by Rosemary Newcott is done in a full-scale Broadway style production with beautiful live music and an all-star cast from Atlanta. A classic tale of redemption, it teaches us its never too late to change. On Christmas Eve, miserly Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by three ghosts who go through his past, his miserly present ways and show him the future.
A Christmas Carol is also playing Dec. 1 – 23 at the Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse as well as at the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, Marietta’s New Theatre and Sylvia Beard in Buford. For an intimate immersive theatrical experience try “The Christmas Carol” at Wren’s Nest, Dec. 12 – 30.
Dec. 8 – 24
The Fox Theatre
It’s new and still a classic! Atlanta Ballet’s first new Nutcracker in 20 years comes complete with world-class choreography by Yuri Possokhov, stunning set design by Tom Pye, a Tony Award nominee and projection design by Tony Award winner Finn Ross. The story of Clara who travels to the Land of Sweets with her Christmas Eve present, a Nutcracker, is augmented by fabulous costumes designed by Sandra Woodall. There are dancing mice, dancing sweets and, of course, dancing nutcrackers.
Or, experience a soulful jazz and urban take on “The Nutcracker” at Tri-Cities High School, East Point, Dec. 20 – 23. Ballethnic’s Urban Nutcracker 2018 is a modern twist on the classic with leaping Reggae Rag Dolls and a spinning Black Russian. There’s modern music, jazz, tap and tumbling Spice Drops!
Dec. 1 – 30
A musical play adapted from Ludwig Bemelman’s book – this is a holiday treat for the whole family. The production features 24 local girls performing with professional actors as part of a collaboration done with The Atlanta Children’s Theatre Company. Madeline and her 11 friends all come down with the flu at their boarding school and are confined to their beds. They wonder, will they get home for Christmas? The arrival of a mysterious stranger starts a wild holiday adventure for them all.
