Great Things to Hear This Holiday Season in Atlanta

Sleigh bells ring – are you listening? We hope so. In this festive holiday season, we at Atlanta Hearing Doctor want you to stay connected to all the sights and sounds. This is the time of year to get together with friends and family members from near and far and celebrate. Here are some of Atlanta’s exciting offerings this holiday season!

A Christmas Carol

Dec. 12 – 24Cobb Energy Performing Arts CentreThis Charles Dickens Classic, directed by Rosemary Newcott is done in a full-scale Broadway style production with beautiful live music and an all-star cast from Atlanta. A classic tale of redemption, it teaches us its never too late to change. On Christmas Eve, miserly Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by three ghosts who go through his past, his miserly present ways and show him the future.A Christmas Carol is also playing Dec. 1 – 23 at the Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse as well as at the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, Marietta’s New Theatre and Sylvia Beard in Buford. For an intimate immersive theatrical experience try “The Christmas Carol” at Wren’s Nest, Dec. 12 – 30.

The Nutcracker

Dec. 8 – 24The Fox TheatreIt’s new and still a classic! Atlanta Ballet’s first new Nutcracker in 20 years comes complete with world-class choreography by Yuri Possokhov, stunning set design by Tom Pye, a Tony Award nominee and projection design by Tony Award winner Finn Ross. The story of Clara who travels to the Land of Sweets with her Christmas Eve present, a Nutcracker, is augmented by fabulous costumes designed by Sandra Woodall. There are dancing mice, dancing sweets and, of course, dancing nutcrackers.Or, experience a soulful jazz and urban take on “The Nutcracker” at Tri-Cities High School, East Point, Dec. 20 – 23. Ballethnic’s Urban Nutcracker 2018 is a modern twist on the classic with leaping Reggae Rag Dolls and a spinning Black Russian. There’s modern music, jazz, tap and tumbling Spice Drops!

Madeline’s Christmas

Dec. 1 – 30Horizon TheatreA musical play adapted from Ludwig Bemelman’s book – this is a holiday treat for the whole family. The production features 24 local girls performing with professional actors as part of a collaboration done with The Atlanta Children’s Theatre Company. Madeline and her 11 friends all come down with the flu at their boarding school and are confined to their beds. They wonder, will they get home for Christmas? The arrival of a mysterious stranger starts a wild holiday adventure for them all.

A Christmas Tradition

Dec. 14 – 23Earl Smith Strand Theatre, MariettaA high-energy family friendly holiday song and dance production featuring costumed singers and dancers. This revue includes performances of both traditional and funky Christmas carols.

Christmas with Atlanta Master Chorale

Dec. 15Schwartz Center for Performing ArtsExperience the beauty and wonder of soaring chorale performances of the songs of the season. From joyous songs of angels to the hauntingly beautiful “Silent Night” the AMC production is filled with the joy of the holidays.

Chris Mitchell – White Christmas

Dec. 16Renaissance Atlanta Midtown HotelNationally renowned saxophonist Chris Mitchell and his ensemble performs holiday classics including “Have Yourself A Merry Christmas,” from his upcoming White Christmas album.

Santa Paws

Dec. 16The onUp ExperienceOK, we couldn’t resist this one – get a photo of your pet with Santa.

Holiday Light Show

Dec. 1 – 25The Plaza at BatteryIt’s a new light show this year. Guests can experience an immersive light and sound display at the Plaza each evening at 6, 7, 8 and 9 p.m.

Celtic Woman: The Best of Christmas Tour

Dec. 22Atlanta Symphony HallCelebrate the holiday season with the multi-platinum Irish singing Celtic Woman as they present The Best of Christmas Tour with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Don’t miss this unparalleled musical experience!
