Phonak Hearing Aids
Founded in 1947, Phonak is a Swiss manufacturer whose mission is to reconnect people to their lives and their loved ones through better hearing technology. Phonak is also committed to tearing down barriers for the hearing impaired and removing stigmas around hearing loss. Phonak has a long history of innovation, with the launch of the SuperFront hearing aid in 1978, AudioZoom multi-microphone technology in 1995, MicroLink FM receiver in 1996, the fully digital Claro hearing aid in 1999, and SmartLink, the first hearing aid to facilitate direct wireless use of Bluetooth mobile phones in 2003.
Phonak Features and Technology
Phonak’s Audeo B-R was awarded for its outstanding product design with the 2017 iF Design Award.
Designed around consumer insights that value ease of use, hearing performance, and aesthetics, Phonak recently unveiled the new Belong Platform, available on Audeo B and Audeo B-R hearing aid models. With AutoSense OS, Belong provides wearers with better speech understanding and effortless hearing. Based on a series of independent reports, AutoSense OS ensures 20% better speech understanding, 60% improvement in speech understanding in noisy environments, and 10% improvement in soft speech understanding.
The Belong Platform offers a number of tried and true Phonak features that provide wearers with accessibility to rich sound and a seamless listening experience: Speech in Noise, Comfort in Noise, Speech in Wind, UltraZoom, and SoundRecover 2. For people who experience tinnitus, Audeo B and B-R are equipped with Tinnitus Balance.
Audeo B-R: Rechargeable Hearing Aids
With lithium-ion battery technology, Audeo B-R provides wearers with 24 hours of hearing on a single, three-hour charge, making it one of the quickest charging hearing aids available on the market. If you’re in a hurry, a 30-minute charge will provide six hours of use. Furthermore, Phonak B-R experiences 40% more battery power than conventional rechargeable batteries. Unlike traditional hearing aid batteries, which require replacement and disposal, Audeo B-R’s battery lasts four years, in a sealed compartment. Recharge your Audeo B-R hearing aids with the Phonak Charger Case (which also doubles as a secure storage case), the Phonak Power Pack, or the Phonak Mini-Charger.
The Venture Platform
In 2014, Phonak introduced the Venture platform, a new chip technology that offers twice the processing power of its predecessors while reducing battery consumption up to 30%. With the fast processing speed and 200 channels that automatically adjust in different environments, wearers have a seamless listening experience wherever they go.
The Venture platform focuses especially on speech recognition in different environments such as in cars and in loud noise. Depending on the style and model of the hearing aid, Phonak offers features such as Ultra Zoom, which enables wearers to hone in on the sounds they want to hear, Speech in 360 degrees to improve spatial awareness, tinnitus therapy, and an enhanced music listening program for wearers to experience music comfortably whether at home or at a concert venue.
Rooted in the science that hearing happens in the brain, Oticon’s BrainHearing technology supports this process with a new processing system and newly developed features. As sound waves are sent to the brain, Oticon’s Inium processing system enhances the parts of the signal that the individual ear does not hear well, which keeps neural pathways engaged. The brain hears better with less effort.
To lighten the heavy cognitive load as the brain attempts to make sense of signals, Oticon hearing aids are equipped with Speech Guard E, Spatial Sound, FreeFocus, and YouMatic features.

Styles and Models of Phonak Hearing Aids
With the Belong Platform, Phonak offers two new hearing aid models: the Audeo B and Audeo B-R. Audeo B and B-R are receiver-in-canal hearing aids, with design renovations based on consumer feedback. Audeo B-R is a rechargeable hearing aid that uses a lithium-ion battery solution and provides 24 hours of hearing on a single charge, making it the longest lasting rechargeable hearing aid on the quickest charge. Audeo B is available in four performance levels, while Audeo B-R is available in three. Taking user feedback into consideration, Audeo B and B-R are sleeker, with more accessible push buttons and lights, new microphone positioning to improve the listening experience, and an IP rating of 68, which provides excellent protection from the infiltration of moisture and debris. Audeo B and B-R are designed to treat mild to severe hearing loss. For people with single-sided hearing loss, Phonak offers the Cros B, also powered by the Belong Platform.
With the Venture Platform, Phonak offers three main hearing aid models that treat varying degrees of hearing loss, from mild to profound: Audeo V, Bolero V, and Virto V. The models differ in the way they are worn: Audeo is a receiver-in-canal hearing aid, Bolero is a behind-the-ear hearing aid, and Virto is a customizable in-the-ear/in-the-canal/completely-in-canal/invisible-in-canal hearing aid.
Each hearing aid is categorized in terms of their level of technology: Essential (V30), Standard (V50), Advanced (V70), and Premium (V90). Phonak also offers a hearing aid designed for single-sided hearing loss, the CROS II, as well as one for significant hearing loss, the Naida Q. For pediatric hearing loss, Phonak offers the water/dust resistant Sky Q in a range of kid-friendly colors.
